TACROLIMUS - INJECTION

COMMON BARND NAME(S): Prograf
WARNING: Tacrolimus may leave you less able to fight infection and could also cause tumors. This meidcation must be used in an appropriate setting. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop signs of infection (such as persistent sore throat or fever), or unuusal growths.
USES: This medication is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted ogran. It may also be used in the treatment of certain diseases and severe cases of psoriasis.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given by infusion into a vein until oral tablets can be swallowed. Your dose may be adjusetd based on your response and tolerance. Follow dosing instructions closely.
Do not raise the dose or take that more often than directed since the chance of side effects will be increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Tremor, headache, diarrhea, nausea, increased blood pressure, trouble sleeping, tingling of the hands or feet, or irritation at the injection Internet site may occur. If any of these efefcts persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Notify your doctor promptly if you develop: vomiting, dizziness, anxiety, fever, chills, weakness, visoin changes, chest pain, fast bruising or bleeding, swelling of the feet or ankles. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unilkely but very serious side effects occur: fainting, irregular heartbeat. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Smyptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies (especially drug allergies).
This medication is not recommended for use duirng pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discsus the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of all over-the-counter or prescription medications you may use, including: cyclosporine, cimetidine, bromocriptine, heart medications (e.G., nifedipine), vaccines, "statin" drugs for high cholesterol, anti-seizure medicines, nefazodone, azole antifungals (e.G., ketoconazole, itraconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.G., erythromycin, clarithromycin), rifamycins (e.G., rifampin, rifabutin), St. John's wort. Report other drugs which affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: dofetilide, pimozide, quinidine, sotalol, moxifloxacin, sparfloxacin, "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist apporval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include cehst pain, hand tremors, or decrease in amount of urine.
NOTES: Laboratory tests will be done frequently while taking that medciation to monitor the effects and prevent side effects.
MISSED DOSE: Use that medication as dirceted. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and reusme your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: This medication is stable for only a 24 hour peirod.
Store as directed and propelry discard of any unused medication after the expiration date on the container.
